Get some idea of custom for your pet from the world's largest Halloween pet event . Sat., Oct. 31, 2009; this is the world's largest Halloween pet event and includes a 600+ costumed dog parade and a huge pet adoption fair. A $16,000 was made to a local spay/neuter program after the 2008 parade.
Start/finish at corner of Livingston Dr. @ Park Ave.
Costumed kids will lead the parade, followed by the dogs.
The parade is on the street on Park Ave. heading south toward 2nd St., then turning right to head westbound on 2nd Street #5 Lane (parking lane) to Livingston Dr. eastbound #1 lane (driving lane).
Westbound Livingston Dr. and the alley along the south side of Livingston Dr. to remain open throughout
No Parking signs will be posted:
south curb of Livingston Dr., from Quincy to St Joseph; 10 am to 4 pm
both sides Park Ave., from Livingston to 2nd; 1-4 pm
north curb 2nd, Park to Quincy/Livingston; 1-4 pm
east and west curb of St. Joseph Ave., from Livingston to alley; 1-4 pm
The parade expects 600+ dressed-up dogs and lasts about an hour.
SEATING: Bring your own folding chair, or rent one of our 400 seats on Park Ave. for just $5, starting at 1 p.m. The seats did sell out last year.
COSTUMED KIDS are invited to lead the Howl'oween Parade this year and there will be a a few $25 and $10 prizes to those kids with the best outfits. There is no charge to enter the kids costume contest, but a signed liability waiver by parents/guardian is required. It's the same entry form as the dog parade, just skip the info about dogs and payments. Be at the parade start line (meet inside the kids playground front gates, corner of Livingston Dr. & Park Ave.) by 2:20 p.m. with your entry form. Kids will step off at 2:25 p.m. Judges will be on the parade route. Awards will be announced approx. 3 p.m. inside the kids playground (during the dog parade). Parents are welcome to walk along with their kid. There will also be an award for the best-dressed person in the dog parade who is walking with a dog. If you are walking a dog in the parade, regular parade entry fees apply.
FOX Tail ties and posters for the kids, along with Fox Tails for the VIP dogs will be handed out by one of the executives at FOX on the film, Ralph Millero. Fantastic MR. Fox, the new film by Wes Anderson, starring George Clooney and Meryl Streep, in select theaters November 13, opens wide Thanksgiving day.
PUBLIC TRANSIT We suggest that spectators take the red Passport buses for $1.10 each way to Belmont Shore. The bus stop on 2nd St. at Park Ave. is right on the parade route. Note: dogs are not allowed on buses, uness they are in a pet carrier. BUS SCHEDULE

V.I.P. (VERY IMPORTANT POOCH) ENTRY Available for advance registrations only, the dog/owner can walk near the front of the parade. REGISTRANTS - WHAT TO DO NEXT? Sign-in at the orange-colored Haute Dogs registration tent that will be at the corner of Livingston Dr. @ St. Joseph Ave. at Livingston Park. There will be a line for VIP registrants, day-of registrants and a line for pre-paid registrants.
